Melissa Lara
Melissa Lara is a Dallas-native choreographer, performer, and educator with over 16 years of professional training across multiple disciplines, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary/lyrical, modern, heels, company, and commercial work. An alumna of Preston Center Dance, Melissa began her training at the age of 4, sparking her passion for dance. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) and furthered her studies at AMDA College of the Performing Arts in Los Angeles under the direction of Marina Benedict, where she earned a B.F.A. in Dance Theatre. There, she gained valuable experience in acting and dancing for the camera and participated in live stage performances.
In Los Angeles, Melissa trained and danced with renowned instructors like Donyelle Jones, Teresa Espinosa, Jeremy Armstrong, and Miguel Antonio. Her professional accomplishments include working on the BET Soul Train Music Awards, performing for the Real XO Girls/Cardi-B at the Mid-State Fair, and appearing in music videos for artists such as Jason Derulo. Dedicated to continuous growth, Melissa regularly trains and takes classes in the DFW area, staying current with the evolving culture of various dance styles. In addition, Melissa choreographs for special events, including weddings and quinceañeras.
Since returning to Dallas, Melissa has remained dedicated to inspiring, educating, and supporting young artists everywhere as they pursue their dreams in dance.
